Quinn and I love spin class. It’s one of those classes that kick your tail end but once you’re done, you feel like you’ve accomplished so much. It’s one of of my favorite workouts ever. When we were deciding what to do in Mt. Hood we discovered the Bike Concierge. They have all sorts of different tours in the Oregon Mt Hood Territory and we chose the winery tour.
The Bike Concierge connects tourism and cycling by giving you a guided tour through certain parts of Oregon and Washington. No matter if you’re a beginner (like me) or an expert, they have a tour for you. Thankfully, we had the perfect weather conditions for our ride. The Bike Concierge provided everything that we needed, all we had to bring was ourselves.
We went to three wineries and got to enjoy a flight at each location. Our first stop was Villa Catalana Cellars. I believe I took over 50 pictures in the short time that we were there because I was blown away by this winery which started as a nursery. The owner was gracious enough to walk us through his property giving us insight about how they started their nursery and winery. They brought this property not even 10 years ago and have completely transformed a hay field into one of the most beautiful properties I’ve ever seen.
No matter which was you looked, there was gorgeous scenery to take in. Can you believe the owners built almost everything on their property by hand – including their gorgeous home? After our tasting we hopped back on the bike for a ride to King’s Raven Winery. This winery wasn’t far from Villa Catalana but it was up a steep hill that reminded me that I wasn’t in the best of shape. I thankfully made it up the hill and I never wanted a sip of wine so bad in my life.King’s Raven Winery is family owned and operated. They have fun events such as movies in the field and dinners throughout the year. Their wines are made only from the soil and climate of the North Willamette ValleyOur next stop was Forest Edge Wines. The bike ride there was definitely more difficult than we had experienced during the day since the wineries are going up a mountain. Quinn and I tried our best but were defeated by the large hill. Thankfully, the Bike Concierge has a van that is always within a few miles distance of where the bike tour is. They follow along in case the bike riders need anything whether it be a ride to the next location or some help with a bike problem. I was more than happy to jump in the Bike Concierge van about half way up the hill because my body was done. They took our bikes and we hopped in the car for a short ride to Forest Edge.
Even though we struggled getting to the last destination, we jumped back on our bikes to ride to our starting point where we ended the our winery tour. Since we were at the top of the hill, the ride back was amazing. Most of it was downhill and the guys loved flying down the hills. Me, on the other hand, rode the brakes the whole way down because I was terrified I would hit a stick and go flying off! We had an amazing time and loved being able to see many different wineries while we were in town.
The Bike Concierge were great hosts and did an amazing job showing us around without going too hard on us. If you’re looking for a fun, enjoyable activity while in the area, check out the Bike Concierge.
