I love Facebook, it’s one of my favorite things ever but what drives me crazy are the lovely ads that follow you around on there. One ad that has followed me around like crazy is the BarkBox ad. I think that I signed in to BarkBox many moons ago and so it keeps haunting me til I finish my sign up. One day while I was working, I decided what the heck – let’s sign up for BarkBox.
I’ve been a part of a few subscription boxes and I always like receiving them but after I open the box, I don’t use all of the products or all of the sample size products get thrown into a jar with lots of other sample products. Since the subscription box was for my pups and they eat everything and will play with almost any toy, I figured I would give it a try.
I was a bit shocked the box cost so much. For 3 months, it cost $72. There was an option to choose longer periods for a bit cheaper per month but I thought 3 months was a good trial time. Oh, and when I signed up they gave me 1 month free so it was a nice incentive. We received our first box shortly after signing up and the dogs loved opening up the box and checking what was inside.
Here’s a glimpse inside our BarkBox and what we thought about each item.
Etta Says Duck Chew ($3)
“Crunchy and savory, these Etta Says Duck Chews come from all natural American farms and promote healthy chompers and gums!”
What the dogs thought: I have three dogs so the one duck chew went fairly fast. They all loved it.
“These American sockeyes salmon strips are made from 100% American salmon skins and are a pawsone natural source of omega 3 and 6.”
What the dogs thought: They loved the salmon skins although they were awfully fishy smelling. I would only give them little bits at a time since I was concerned it would hurt their stomach. None of them had issues.
My Doggy Cheesy Cookies ($10)
“What’s better than a soft, doughy cookie? One thats cheesy and wheat-free too!”
What the dogs thought: These treats were their favorite food that came in their Barkbox. I would definitely purchase more of these for future snacks.
Petmate Muscle Man Cuz ($5)
“The JW Pet Muscle Man Cuz is here to be your pup’s pawsonal trainer! Super durable, super squeaky and stacked with super serious muscles.”
What the dogs thoughts: If it squeaks, you better bet my dogs will be all over it. The Petmate Muscle Man Cuz quickly became a favorite of Sake’s but the whole toy was torn apart within 10 minutes of play time. I wouldn’t recommend this small toy if you pup is a heavy chewer.
FabDog Circus Ticket ($8)
“Custom made for Barkbox pups, this FabDog Circus ticket ensures your pup gets to sit in the front row for all the fun.”
What the dogs thought: Sumo was instantly attached to the ticket plush toy. He is a very obsessive dog and the second he laid eyes on the toy, it had no chance. It was torn to pieces within a week. I don’t think the toy was bad it was just played with SO much in such little time that it couldn’t hang.
Overall, the pups loved everything they got but I was a bit disappointed how fast the toys were torn up. I wish they would have lasted much longer since both toys didn’t even last a week. We’re hoping the next box gives us better results!
