I love celebrating Father’s Day. It’s a holiday that is laid back and a time that we get to spend with our family. Not a lot of expected of anyone and my dad is so low key that anything goes. If we decide to do something as simple as dinner at the house, he is perfectly content.
He is the reason that I am so laid back. He is just chill in every aspect of his life. When it comes to anything in life, he is always happy with what he has and never wants for more. I absolutely love this trait that he has passed down to his kids but at the same time, it makes life extremely difficult when I’m trying to figure out what to buy him. Father’s Day is a day focused on him so the pressure is on to find the perfect gift.
A few Christmases ago, my siblings and I went in together and bought him a dog. It was a bit risky because you never know how someone is going to react when you get them a present like that but he loves the dog so much, maybe even more than us – kidding. It’s actually quite funny. When we bought the dog for my dad, I fell in love with him and kept him. I ended up having to buy him another dog to replace him. He actually just found out this year that my dog was suppose to be his dog.
This year I really had to pull my hair and figure out what I wanted to get him. I thought about what he needed, which is nothing so then I tried my best to figure out what he would want. My dad loves the outdoors. He enjoys fishing and being in the wilderness even though he doesn’t take the time to enjoy it as much as he should since he’s a workaholic. I wanted to get him something that would urge him to take time for himself and take a break from work.
I know he’ll be most excited about the one hand vaccuum mug because he loves his coffee and doesn’t go without a serving every morning. The thermal lid keeps drinks hot for up to SEVEN hours and it’s leak proof. He can take it with him on his next fishing adventure or to work with him in the morning.
What did you buy your dad for Father’s Day?
