I love dining at local restaurants whether it be in my hometown or when I’m traveling. Every single member in my family owns their own business so I know how important it is to support local business. While we were staying at Collins Lake Resort in Oregon’s Mt Hood Territory, we found the perfect place to dine – Huckleberry Inn.Located in the heart of Government Camp, Huckleberry Inn’s steakhouse is open 24 hours a day. Before heading out for a long day of hiking, we stopped in to see what it was all about. Our eyes were instantly directed to a tray full of freshly cooked donuts. Even though I wanted a full breakfast, I knew we had to try one. I don’t know what you call the appetizer of breakfast, but that’s what the donut was. You can see how large it is by comparing it to the coffee mug behind it. It was extremely fresh and tasted more like a cake than a donut. We only ate about half of it because we wanted to save room for our actual breakfast.
I can not say no to homemade biscuits and gravy and that’s exactly what I got. Quinn ordered a traditional breakfast with ham, eggs and hash browns. We loved Huckleberry Inn! The food was just what we wanted and the portions were large. We took home 2 full to-go boxes to eat back at our condo later. Huckleberry Inn is a great establishment that is definitely worth a visit while vacationing in Mt. Hood!
