My whirlwind weekend has come to an end.
I’m still exhausted from the fun filled weekend that I had. I got to spend time with my closest friends and family while also celebrating my fiance’s birthday. I’ve been planning for this past weekend for the longest time and I’m kind of sad that it’s all done with.
Friday night, my fiance’s parents took us out to eat at one of favorite sushi places in Dallas called Sushi Zushi to celebrate Quinn’s birthday. The food was delicious and the company was amazing. We got home late and I spent most of the night decorating for a baby shower I was hosting at my house the next day.
I woke up around 9am on Saturday and hit the ground running. I threw on clothes and headed out the door. I went to my local grocery store to grab balloons for both Quinn’s birthday and the baby shower. I seriously hated that the baby shower was on his birthday because I knew it would consume most of my day but thankfully he is awesome and didn’t sweat it. On my way home from the grocery store, I grabbed some donuts and took them home so I could spend an hour of quality time with him before they day got crazy. It was at this time that I realized that his presents never arrived from Amazon Prime. I double checked the status of the order online and realized that I had all of his presents to the wrong address. Complete fail on my part.
I believe that was about the moment that all the stress building up to this weekend hit me. I just wanted to cry. Not only was having to miss his whole birthday but I didn’t even have his presents. I called Amazon to straighten it out but I talked to two different representatives that told me two different things so only time will tell.
All of my family arrived around 1:00pm to help with the final touches for the baby shower. It was good to have everyone over and help with everything. The baby shower began, and it was a blast. It was great to spend time with my extended family, especially since I don’t get to see them often. We decided to only do desserts for the shower and each one of my family members brought one dish.
I kept decorations simple and practical. I used scrap fabric and tied pieces together to make this banner then used clothes pins to hang up onsies that I bought for the baby.
I had an abundance of onsies so I made another banner that hung over all of the gifts.
We used a dining room table to set up baby pictures of the mom and dad to be. Instead of a regular sign in, we had a onsie embroidered with the Baby’s name and had everybody sign it with a permanent marker so the onsie can be hung in the nursery.
I knew there would be lots of pictures taken, so I bought this cute chevron wrapping paper at the Dollar Store and put it on an empty wall. It made a great back drop for all of our fun photos that we took. This is my sweet niece modeling for me.
After the baby shower ended, my family left and Quinn came home from the movies and we were both off to an event in Dallas. I am so thankful that he is so easy going and understanding. I’m now trying to come up with ideas to make up for his birthday that I had to miss.
The event in Dallas is one of our absolute favorites so I was so excited to go because I knew he would enjoy it but we were both so tired that we didn’t stay even an hour and a half. We got home and went straight to bed since my sister was throwing me a bridal shower the next day. To say Saturday was busy would be an understatement, I had a blast with my family and enjoyed spending as much time as I could with Quinn for his birthday.
